United Club EWR C Concourse Concourse

The one with the glass bowl view of the food court down below

Seats are tough to find and the food is awkwardly setup around the bar where bottlenecks in foot traffic are easy.

Food options are healthier

Mixed greens with chickpeas and a very tasty s salsa. I don’t even use salad dressing as the salad is already quite flavorful!

two soup options

Italian wedding

not my favorite of soups. It tasted a lot like chicken noodle soup. Very salty. The meatballs are a welcome addition but from my experience they are hard to come by in real life as most people try and grab as many as they can when they serve themselves.

Southwestern vegetarian chill

I added some tortilla chips and parmesan cheese. It was really good. Zesty flavor and hearty beans and vegetables.

Natalie’s Candy Jar: Sweet spot in IAH B Concourse

In Houston international airport (IAH) there is an awesome candy shop where you can get just about anything. Natalie’s Candy Jar. Great place.

Most airports just have your typical sweets and gum so this is an extra special treat.

Their wall of jelly beans is awesome. I recently came back from a trip to universal studios where we went to Harry Potter world. We picked up some Bertie botts every flavor bean and bought a pound of jellies from Natalie’s to add some diversity and make the truly disgusting flavors from Bertie botts every flavor beans a little more rare.

Natalies has a little bit every everything from Gummi crocodiles to Mega bruiser jaw breakers, from (one of my personal favorites) Swedish fish to Candy blox.

They also have a decent assortment of nuts in case you want to make your own medley.

United Club IAH Houston B Concourse

The united club in concourse b is a bit hidden. If you’re not paying attention you’ll walk right by it. It’s hiding to the right of a huge flight status display. There are some stairs and a small elevator.

Their hours are pretty bad only open 5:30 am to 9:00 pm. So don’t plan on coming before a red eye.

Its got a pretty weird layout. A long hallway with small rooms on the right side for seating…

There are also some areas on the left where there are small individual work cubicles.

in the back there is a big open room with seating and the bar.

There is food served on the wall opposite the car. When I was there they were serving breakfast. The food is pretty standard at all united clubs but I’ve found there are slight regional variations. I guess I just assumed that their would be parity within an airport where they have multiple lounges but I immediately found different food options between C and B clubs.

There’s the oatmeal, the pastries, yogurt and fruit….

However there’s were also these nice little remade parfaits. I tend to make myself something like this using the fruit, yogurt and granola but if you’re in a hurry I guess this is nice.

However its still prepared in a glass container so you’re not leaving with that. One thing I’ll do if I’m in a real hurry but still want breakfast is to take a paper coffee cup and build a parfait or oatmeal on that and leave. You can alarmist always find a plastic silverware set outside the club. Unfortunately the clubs usually only stock metal silverware.

I also noticed that B club had fruit loops as an additional cereal option. That should make the kids (or the kid-at-heart, like me) happy.

The bar is one of the more spacious ones as the big room featured in this lounge provides for good flow of foot traffic.

United Club IAH Houston C Concourse

I arrived after my red eye from Seattle. No showers. For that you’ll have to go to E concourse in IAH.

The breakfast is well stocked. I tend to stick to oatmeal and a self made parfait.

I haven’t figured out the fruit options. They vary from airport to airport. Here in Houston we had honeydew, watermelon and grapes.

Vanilla yogurt and granola for the self made parfait….yum!!!

Standard fare as far as oatmeal goes. Some clubs have walnuts or shaved almonds. Unfortunately not in Houston.

Caught them in between refilling the white death. I try and stay away from this stuff. Honestly I wish they had more an italian breakfast: salad greens, oil and vinegar.

The lighting at the bar was really cool. This bar is really big and nice.

Double draft bays with loads and loads of draft beer options. Impressive.

  • Lagunitas IPA (usually my pick)
  • Sam Adams Lager
  • Corona
  • Stella
  • Blue Moon
  • Karbach IPA
  • Coors light (free)
  • Bud light (free)

They’ve really upgraded this club. The decor is updated and clean.

Pretzel bread burger on united domestic first

First class Houston to Seattle dinner consisted of two options. Five cheese ravioli and pretzel bread burger.

I opted for the burger. It came delightfully warm with just enough heat between the bun and burger to delicately melt the cheese once I put it on the patty. Lettuce tomato pickles ketchup mustard.

I paired it with a beer called lucky u IPA from Breckenridge brewery “fine Colorado ales” the color was to my liking. Amber with almost a hint of red. The flavor was hoppy and a bit nutty. It had a soft bite and a smooth finish. A bit frothy do be careful on the pour.

The salad consisted of fresh baby spinach a single cherry tomato posited with a single Mediterranean olive and fetta cheese. The dressing was a honey Dijon dressing which i found to be an odd pairing. I would have preferred a Greek dressing or a simple basalmic vinegar. Chewing that marvelous olive was diminished by the overly sweet salad dressing. Lucky for me the lucky u IPA did an excellent job of washing the taste of that dressing away!

For dessert we had a raspberry cheesecake 🍰. Delicious to the last and will paired with a glass of the red wine.

Well done united.

Hyatt regency club breakfast snackery

The Hyatt regency in Delhi has a quite posh regency club. In the morning you will find it stocked with all sorts of goodies that are free to take. Most are standing at the ready but they do have a daily special of made-to-order items.

Fresh juices and milk

Precut fruits and yogurt

Cold meats

Table items

Assorted pastries

Fresh breads

Salad bar

Cereal and fruit

Hot stuff

Khandvi. Chutney flavor almost like mustard. Half way through it reminded me of a deviled egg. Thought it was warm but served cool.

Hyatt regency club Indian and western breakfast options

Here are some of the made to order breakfasts at the Hyatt regency Delhi.

Uttapam. Rice flour pancake, onion, tomato, green chili, chutney, samba

Chewy and soft with just a very light crispy texture. Peppery flavor complimented by the tomato chutney for a fiery finish or the coconut chutney for a cool and calming finish.

French cinnamon toast

Apple compote, maple syrup, whipped cream

Light and flakey. Chewy with added crunch of the crusted sugar. Can cut with the side of my fork.
